2014 is off to very good start! At this point, we are working with neighboring Civic Clubs and Super Neighborhoods on the following initiatives that could impact downtown and east downtown:
-METRO Harrisburg Rail Line
-Houston Equal Rights Ordinance
-Gus Wortham / Botanical Garden
The Downtown Super Neighborhood does not endorse any of these initiatives, but members are encouraged to get involved as Constituent of the District.
We have new City Council Member, Robert Gallegos. To this end, we are allowing him time to ramp up in his role. Our annual meeting will be in August or September 2014, at which time we will hear from our elected officials relative to progress in downtown and east downtown.
Please email questions or concerns to: dsnc61@gmail.com
The Council serves as a forum where residents and stakeholders can discuss issues impacting their super neighborhood, reach a consensus on projects and develop a Super Neighborhood Action Plan for community improvements. Councils provide information to the city on needed non-capital improvement projects in their areas and assist in directing funds for city planning efforts.
